Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are now open for Nomination and Application for teachers of grades K-6. Nominations are due by April 1, 2014 and applications are due on May 1, 2014. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science). Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education. Since 1983, more than 4,200 teachers have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. In addition to recognizing outstanding teaching in mathematics or science (including computer science), the program provides teachers with an opportunity to build lasting partnerships with colleagues across the nation. This growing network of award-winning teachers serves as a vital resource for improving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and keeping America globally competitive. Nomination Anyone—principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public—may nominate exceptional mathematics or science (including computer science) teachers teaching in grades K-6 for the 2014 Award Year. Nominations may be submitted for more than one teacher. Additionally, teachers may also nominate themselves. Nominations for teachers teaching in grades 7-12 will be accepted next year.

Once a teacher is nominated, the teacher will receive an email invitation to continue the application process. The invitation will include login information for accessing the online application system.
