Current Drug Trends Facing Our Youth (6 – 12)
This professional development is designed to increase participant’s understanding of the growing concern of substance abuse among students. Participants will learn about various substances being abused by our youth today, the signs and symptoms of abuse, and ways to increase protective factors in an educational setting.
Gang Awareness and School Violence (K – 12)
This workshop presents current information on local gangs and party crews, while focusing on the progression of violence in each group and how to help those involved.
Underage Drinking Awareness (6 – 12)
Educators will learn the current trends and issues concerning underage drinking in which our youth are engaging, along with signs and symptoms of usage to help identify those students who may need intervention to get back on track in school.
Understanding the Juvenile Justice System: An Overview of the Department of Juvenile Justice Services (K – 12)
This workshop will provide an overview of the various divisions within the department. Representatives from the separate DJJS divisions will provide descriptions of their programs. Some of the divisions represented include probation, clinical services, detention, and the various legal entities involved in the juvenile justice system. This training will offer an understanding of the services in which adjudicated youth within the Clark County School District take part.
Sessions may also be presented to parents.
