School Board Committees

Attendance Zone Advisory Commission

The Attendance Zone Advisory Commission (AZAC) is a dedicated committee of community volunteers that annually evaluates school zoning boundaries and recommends balanced, necessary zoning adjustments.

Each elected Board member appoints two members from their District.

Audit Advisory Committee

The Clark County School District (District) Board of Trustees (Board) formed the Audit Advisory Committee (Committee) to advise the Board in the following areas:

• Strengthening accountability for the stewardship and efficient use of public funds
• Providing a communication link between the external and internal auditors and the Board
• Enhancing transparency of the District’s financial operations
• Improving public trust in the honesty and integrity of its public officials

Board liaison is Trustee Lydia Dominguez.

JOIN THE CCSD BOARD OF TRUSTEES AUDIT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Clark County School District (District) Board of Trustees (Board) formed the Audit Advisory Committee (Committee) to advise the Board in the following areas: Strengthening accountability for the stewardship and efficient use of public funds; providing a communication link between the external and internal auditors and the Board; enhancing transparency of the District’s financial operations; and improving public trust in the honesty and integrity of its public officials. The membership of the Committee shall consist of five Community members who shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees. Committee members shall serve without compensation for renewable staggered two-year terms. After the first two-year term, members who wish to continue serving will be asked to commit to either a one- or two-year extension of service. The Clark County School District Board of Trustees Audit Advisory Committee is looking to fill one member vacancy to complete a term through June 30, 2027. Applications (available here) must be received on or before Monday, October 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. No exceptions will be made. Postmarks will not be considered.

Bond Oversight Committee

The Bond Oversight Committee provides public accountability and strategic governance by monitoring school construction programs, ensuring financial transparency, and advising the Board of School Trustees on capital improvements and resource allocation. Each elected Board member appoints one committee member from their District.

Board liaison is Trustee Emily Stevens.

Oversight Panel for School Facilities

The purpose of this panel is to approve or disapprove a request by the board of trustees of the school district for the issuance of general obligation bonds.

Board liaison is Trustee Ramona Esparza-Stoffregan.

School Name Committee

The purpose of this committee is to review naming nominations for unnamed Clark County School District facilities, including schools, central office locations and areas within schools (for example, libraries and sports facilities).

The School Name Committee is comprised of seven diverse members. The Committee Chair and one additional trustee are appointed by the Board President. In addition, the Superintendent will appoint five members of the community to serve on the committee to include one administrative employee of CCSD, one former or current teacher of CCSD, one parent representative with at least one student currently attending a CCSD school, and two additional members from the community.

Currently, two School Board trustees serve as members of the committee: Trustee Tameka Henry (committee chairperson) and Trustee Linda P. Cavazos. 

The other committee members, who are appointed by the Superintendent, include: Leonardo Benavides, Bradley Combs, Abigail Johnson, Piper Overstreet-White, and Michael Patterson.
 

Sex Education Advisory Committee

Sex Education Advisory Committee

The purpose of the committee is to make recommendations to the Board regarding content and materials that are contained in sex education units.

Committee members include: Katherine McCrea, Carissa Quatrino, Rodney M. Poepping, Keith R. Frank, Arcelia Barajas, Nakia Jackson-Hale, Joanna Soto, Amanda Stephens, Dei Thomas, and Cara McAnallen.
 

Sex Education Advisory Committee Recommending Committee

The purpose of this committee is to make recommendations to the Board on membership to the Sex Education Advisory Committee.

Committee members include: Laura Nowak, Lindsey Dalley, Ender Austin, Stavan Corbett, Marie Solomon, Rosie Holland, and Donna West. 
 

Government committees with School Board representation

Debt Management Commission

The purpose of this commission is to review the District’s legal debt capacity, affordability, and the repayment sources of that debt, for the purposes of maintaining and issuing new debt.

Board liaison is Trustee Emily Stevens.

State or national affiliates

Council of the Great City Schools Board of Directors

The purpose of this organization is to advocate for the nation's large urban school districts and their children.

Board liaison is Trustee Brenda Zamora.

Nevada Association of School Boards 

The purpose of this organization is for members of school boards from throughout the state to work together on education issues that impact all Nevada schools and students.

This organization consists of school districts from across the state of Nevada.

Board liaisons are as follows: Trustee Irene Bustamante Adams and Trustee Brenda Zamora.
 

Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Board of Control

The purpose of this association is to promote, control, supervise, and regulate all interscholastic athletic events and other interscholastic events in Nevada's public schools.

Southern Nevada Public Television

A Trustee liaison sits on the Southern Nevada Public Television board and ensures that
other trustees, acting in their capacity as FCC licensees, are aware of national
programming policies affecting Vegas PBS.

Public Education Foundation

The mission of the Public Education Foundation is to partner with the community and
the Clark County School District to meet immediate, critical education needs that will
strengthen our public schools.
