CCSD to Offer Free Meals for 2026-2027

The Clark County School District (CCSD) is pleased to announce our participation in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), After School Snack Program (ASCP), and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). 

CCSD can offer these services because of our participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the federal Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Under this provision, the District will be able to offer all CCSD students free breakfast and lunch meals at all school sites offering in-person instruction without collecting household applications. 

“Hungry students cannot learn in class,” said CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert. “Ensuring our 280,000 students have reliable access to free, healthy, and delicious meals every day is essential to their well-being and academic success.”

Additional information on federal guidelines and requirements related to the funds that support free breakfast and lunch:

When known to CCSD, households that have children that are categorically eligible through an assistance program, SNAP, TANF or FDPIR, or households that have children that are qualified as Other Source Categorically Eligible by being classified as; homeless, migrant, runaway, foster, institutionalized, or enrolled in an eligible head start or PreK program, will be notified of the children’s eligibility through direct certification. 

All children in the household of categorically eligible students qualify for meal benefits. If they are not listed on the notification of free meal benefits, the household should contact the Food Service Department to have free meal benefits extended to them. Households that have been notified of their child’s eligibility must contact the Food Service Department if they wish to decline the free meal benefits. 

Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) participants may be eligible for free and reduced-priced meals. Additionally, children of parents/guardians who become unemployed may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals or free milk. 

Parents/guardians dissatisfied with the ruling of the official may make a formal appeal either orally or in writing to David Wines, for a hearing on the decision using the school district’s appeals process. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.) should contact the State or local Agency that administers the program or contact USDA through the Telecommunications Relay Service at 711 (voice and TTY). Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English. 

To file a program discrimination complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, AD-3027, found online at How to File a Program Discrimination Complaint and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
