Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 

From Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8, CCSD is proud to recognize the educators who change children's lives every day. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom walls, shaping the future of Southern Nevada. Please join us in honoring the skill, passion, and dedication of our teachers.

Friday, May 1, 2026 - Teacher Appreciation Night with the LV Aces 

The Las Vegas Aces hosted a dinner event celebrating 85 exemplary CCSD employees. Each invitee received a complimentary meal, a swag bag, and a free ticket to watch the Aces' home opener. The Aces honored five winners with the Above & Beyond Award, Unsung Hero Award, Innovative Teaching Award, Community Impact Award, and Student Champion Award. 

Monday, May 4, 2026 

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, the A's recognized a total of six educators with a surprise experience, providing each with four tickets to attend the A’s “Las Vegas Series” in June. Each educator was nominated by their school administrator through the CCSD Exemplary Employee Program.

Tuesday, May 5, 2026 - Walker Furniture Teachers' Lounge Refresh 

Lied STEM Academy staff were surprised with a Teachers' Lounge Refresh courtesy of the Walker Furniture Teacher Appreciation Annual Writing Contest! Lied STEM Academy 7th grader, Addison Gourley, was selected as the winner of the writing contest after writing an essay about her teacher's class. Addison received $250 and her teacher, Ms. Gates, was also awarded a $250 gift card! 

Wednesday, May 6, 2026 - College Football Playoff Foundation Teacher Recognition

Today, Ms. Page Zuniga, a math teacher at Greenspun Junior High School, was recognized by the College Football Playoff Foundation (CFPF) with the Extra Yard for Teachers Award! This recognition also included a $1,000 DonorsChoose gift card. 

Additionally, Greenspun Junior High School received a $50,000 investment towards a classroom makeover! Thank you to the CFPF for investing in our educators! 

Thursday, May 7, 2026 - Evening of Excellence VIP Winner Reception

 

CCSD's Evening of Excellence winners were celebrated and recognized at a special recognition held prior to the CCSD Board of School Trustees meeting. The reception provided an opportunity to honor these outstanding staff members for their accomplishments, including the New Educators of the Year, the Elementary Teacher of the Year, and the Secondary Teacher of the Year. 

Friday, May 8, 2026 - Teacher Car Giveaway

Ms. Sierra Slentz, an educator at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, was surprised with a brand-new car courtesy of Towbin Kia and the Silver State Schools Credit Union! Ms. Slentz was nominated through a districtwide nomination process that generated over 200 submissions. Congratulations!
