CCSD and Las Vegas Raiders Talk Road Safety Ahead of New School Year

The Clark County School District (CCSD), in partnership with the Las Vegas Raiders and local law enforcement agencies, hosted a road safety media event to discuss safe driving habits in school zones ahead of the new school year, which starts this Monday, August 10, 2026. 

CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert, CCSD Police Department Chief Jeff Clark, and other local law enforcement representatives joined Las Vegas Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan to stress the importance of school zone safety. CCSD Board of School Trustees Vice President Irene Bustamante Adams, Clerk Lydia Dominguez, Members Lorena Biassotti and Ramona Esparza-Stoffregan also took part in the safety event.    

During the event, CCSDPD and our community partners reminded the community of these important laws in school zones: 

• U-turns are illegal in school zones
• Double parking and blocking crosswalks are prohibited 
• Always obey the posted speed limit and pay close attention to flashing school zone lights 
• Stop whenever you see a school bus with flashing red lights or its stop-arm extended 

The Raiders also unveiled a traffic safety video featuring #1 draft pick Fernando Mendoza, reminding everyone about the importance of traffic safety, especially in school zones. You can view the video here.
