January

January 23 - UNLV Financial Aid Workshop
  • Students and parents are invited to learn the financial aid process from A to Z. It will be at 6:30p.m. in the Student Union. Participants will learn how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as learn about the other resources that can assist in paying for college. RSVP at UNLV Admissions.

  • CCSD seniors with a 2.75 GPA or higher are invited to fly to Reno to visit the UNR Campus. Cost is $49 and includes airfare, shuttle service, campus tour, lunch, residence hall tour, and a visit with academic representatives and current UNR students from Las Vegas.
  • Students must complete the trip application form available in High School Counseling offices, which includes parent authorization. January 25 – Oklahoma City University Information Session
  • Students and their parents are invited to learn more about Oklahoma City University. Information on admissions, financial aid, and academic programs will be available.

February 1 - UNLV/UNR Application Deadline
  • February 1 is the priority deadline for admissions, financial aid, scholarships, campus housing, and the Honors College. All applications are available at www.unlv.edu or www.unr.edu.
February 6 - UNR Nevada Bound
  • CCSD seniors with a 2.75 GPA or higher are invited to fly to Reno to visit the UNR Campus. Cost is $49 and includes airfare, shuttle service, campus tour, lunch, residence hall tour, and a visit with academic representatives and current UNR students from Las Vegas.

February 9 - Savannah College of Art and Design
  • All CCSD students and their parents are invited to learn more about Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA). Information on academic programs, the application process, scholarship opportunities, portfolio preparation, and career options in art and design will be discussed.
  • This free event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn (7830 S. Las Vegas Blvd - next to Las Vegas Outlet Mall). Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 1:00 p.m. For more information, contact Savannah College of Art and Design or 1-800-869-7223.
February 14 - Southern Utah University Multicultural Overnight Trip
  • All CCSD seniors are invited to the Southern Utah University (SUU) Multicultural Overnight Trip. Transportation will be provided, and registration information may be found at the website: http://www.suu.edu/ss/admission/mcovernight/. This is a first come, first serve opportunity, so register today! Cost is just $5.00.
February 19 - Senator Reid "College is Possible" Financial Aid Night
  • CCSD juniors and seniors and their parents are invited to learn more about college and the financial aid process and the FAFSA form. In addition, parents and students will have an opportunity to complete their FAFSA online (bring copies of 2007 income information).
  • This free event will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Del Sol HS - Room 200, which is located at 3100 E. Patrick Lane. For more information, contact Senator Reid’s office at (702) 388-5020 or visit www.reid.senate.gov.
February 19 - UNR College of Science New Student Reception
  • CCSD seniors and their families who have already been admitted to UNR are invited to attend. (Invitations will be sent to students, as well.) Students will have an opportunity to meet faculty and advisors and the Dean of the College of Science.
  • This free event will be held at the Atrium Suites Hotel (4255 South Paradise Rd) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (presentation begins at 7:00 p.m.). Food and beverage will be served. Please RSVP to Susan Kinder by February 13 at 1-977-966-9366.
February 20 - UNR College of Science Reception for College Bound Students
  • CCSD high achieving prospective seniors and their parents (ACT score of 26 or higher) who haven’t applied to UNR yet are invited to attend this event. CCSD teachers and counselors are invited to attend, as well. Participants will have an opportunity to meet faculty and advisors and the Dean of the College of Science.

February 20 - School/Community Culturally Diverse Scholarship and Financial Aid Workshops
  • CCSD juniors and their parents are invited to attend the School/Community Culturally Diverse Scholarship and Financial Aid Workshops on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Cashman Center Theatre (850 Las Vegas Blvd. North). The general presentation will held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., representatives from community cultural groups will provide specific cultural scholarship and financial aid information. This is an excellent opportunity for juniors and their parents to learn more about the college/university financial aid and scholarship process.

  • CCSD juniors and their parents are invited to learn more about the ACT/SAT assessments.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • This free workshop will be held at UNLV in the Carol Harter Classroom Building Complex, Building “A” in Room 112.  Please park in the Thomas & Mack parking lot. 
February 23 - UNLV On-Site Saturday
  • This program is held the last Saturday of most months. This event going to be held at 9:30a.m. at the Tam Alumni Center.
  • The On-Site Saturday program includes a campus tour, an opportunity to meet with an undergraduate recruiter, an overview of unlv.edu, and lunch in the dining commons. All interested prospective students and parents are invited to attend. RSVP at UNLV Admissions.

Keys to College - UNLV

  • Keys to College programs are designed to bring UNLV to the six CCSD regions. Juniors and their parents are invited to attend and learn about admission, financial aid, and academic and student life. Dates are scheduled throughout the month of March. Check for dates and RSVP at UNLV Admissions.

March 16-21 - Historically Black Colleges & Universities Tour

  • CCSD students are invited to participate in the 13th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Tour (HBCU). Students will visit: Barber-Scotia, Bennett, Duke, Elizabeth City, Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, University of North Carolina, North Carolina A&T, Shaw, St. Augustine, and Winston-Salem State. Cost for the 5 day/4 night tour is $950. Students must pay a non- refundable deposit of $200. March 17-20 - American Indian College Tour

  • Eligible American Indian and Alaska Native students enrolled in CCSD in grades 9-12 are invited to attend. Students will travel to selected colleges/universities in Utah and Idaho.
  • Interested students should contact the Indian Education Opportunities Program (IEOP) at 799-8515 or at to verify eligibility before completing the application. The deadline to submit portfolios to the IEOP Office is December 21, 2007.

April 3 - UNLV Regional Next Steps

  • Next Steps is a presentation given by UNLV’s undergraduate recruiters during school hours in the CCSD regions. This spring, we will hold a special evening Next Steps presentation in the Northwest and Southeast regions. The audience is admitted high school seniors and the message is ‘the final steps to take to become a UNLV Rebel'. If you are interested in attending, please R.S.V.P. at UNLV.       Time: 6:30-8 p.m.
      Recipients: 615 admits from A-tech, Arbor View, Centennial, Cimarron-Memorial, Indian Springs, Palo Verde, Shadow Ridge, and Western High Schools.

April 9 - 22 Financial Aid Workshops

  • Attention 2008 Seniors! The College of Southern Nevada will be sponsoring Financial Aid workshops during April and May. If you have not completed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) our CSN financial representatives will be available to provide you with one-on-one assistance. The dates, times and locations are as follows:

April 10 - UNLV Junior Night

  • CCSD juniors and their parents are invited to campus to meet with representatives from academic programs, learn about student activities and services, take a housing tour, and attend an admission and financial aid presentation. It will be 5:00p.m. at the Cox Pavilion. Please RSVP at UNLV Admissions.

April 11-12 UNLV Rebel Registration

  • All admitted freshman for summer and fall 2008 are invited to receive academic advising and schedule their first semester classes at Rebel Registration April 11-12. Parents and family members are welcome. Visit UNLV Registration to view full event schedules, parking information, and a link to the R.S.V.P. by April 2.

April 12 - Military Academy Night

  • CCSD students and their parents are invited to learn more about United States Military Academies, including the admissions process, academic programs, and high school preparation. More specific information on this program is forthcoming. The event will be held at CSN - Cheyenne Campus.

April 15-24 - UNLV Keys to College

  • Keys to College is a presentation given by UNLV’s undergraduate recruiters in all of the CCSD regions as well as select out-of-state regions. The audience is high school juniors and the message is ‘how to prepare for college’.

      Time: 6:30-8 p.m.
      Recipients: 752 juniors from Canyon Springs, Cheyenne, Legacy, Mojave, Rancho, all CCHS, Moapa Valley, and Virgin Valley High Schools.

      Date: Thursday, April 24
      Time: 6:30-8 p.m.
      Recipients: 1,160 juniors from Arbor View, Centennial, Cimarron-Memorial, Indian Springs, Palo Verde, Shadow Ridge, and Western High Schools.

      Date: Thursday, April 24
      Time: 6:30-8 p.m.
      Recipients: 764 juniors from Chaparral, Desert Pines, Eldorado, Las Vegas, Las Vegas Academy, and Valley High Schools.

April 17-19 - UNR Wolfpack Advising and Registration

  • This program is mandatory for CCSD seniors who have been admitted to UNR for the Fall 2008 semester. Students will meet with their academic advisor and will then sign-up for classes.
  • Parents are also invited to attend the workshops will their students. For more information and to RSVP, students should visit UNR's New Freshman site. Students may also call the UNR Southern Office at 702-940-5416.

  • This program is held the last Saturday of most months. This event going to be held at 9:30a.m. at the Tam Alumni Center.
