First Annual Conference

Cowan Sunset High School is very pleased to announce a “ Be The Example” conference to be held at Del Sol High School, April 25, 2008 from 4PM -7PM.

Conference Overview

Vision: Create an awareness that will inspire our community to “Be The Example”.

Mission: To inspire future generations to "Be The Example" through positive influence.

Admission: We anticipate approximately 1000 people within the community to attend the conference: Cowan Sunset S.E. High School student, 21st Century Schools, select Del Sol High School students, families throughout the community, Community Partnership Organizations and various interested schools. Conference participation will be coordinated through the "Be The Example" Website.

Schedule: The conference will include three main sessions. All sessions will emphasize our vision and mission.

Session I will provide exciting guest speakers, including the UNLV Basketball Coaching staff and players, Master of Ceremonies, Lou Collins, our community partners, and winners of "Be The Example" contests. This kick-off session will be in the gymnasium.

Session II will include an array of informational booths: health and nutritional education, job placement-apprenticeship programs, local union representatives, higher education planning and grant information, as well as various community resources. Food will be available at no charge to all valid conference participants.

Session III will be an exciting culmination of events, with motivational speakers, music, prizes, drawings, and contests.

Please plan to join us in becoming the guiding force that shapes the lives of our students in our community. Young adults are searching for positive role models who can provide strong leadership and guide them to be the example.
