Walk For Hope

On November 14 the student body along with their teachers participated in the first annual Walk For Hope. This is part of a new program at our school that is hoping to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle for kids and adults alike. Nearly every student participated in this 1 mile walk around the neighborhood. Some carrying signs with slogans calling for better health. Mayor Oscar Goodman even participated by encouraging our students to live healthier. Overall, it was a great kick-off event and we look forward to learning more in our quest to live a better life!

New Dress Code For New School Year

Roy Martin Middle School has had a mandatory Standard Student Attire policy in place for many years. Over time we have identified specific areas that needed to be revised. These changes have been approved by our parents and are in place for the 08-09 school year. A few of the major changes are:

1. Only authorized colors may be worn. These colors are khaki, white, black, all shades of blue, yellow, gold, and gray.

2. Jackets and Hoodies must be solid color and free from Logos.

3. There is to be no layering of clothing.

Although not part of the Standard Student Attire we are also going to be examing backpacks more closely. They need to be clean, free of rips. graffiti, and student generated art. Backpacks that do not meet these standards will be confiscated and returned at the end of the year.

New Campus a Bustle of Activity

Constuction is still going forward full force here at the new Martin campus. As of today we are scheduled to open on time and look forward to greeting students with open arms on Monday, August 25. If you are still in need of registering your students for the 08-09 school year please go to Sunrise Acres Elementary School as that is where registration is being held.

Winter Concerts on the Horizon

Music Notes Our music department is feverishly preparing for their annual Winter concerts. The students are preparing a variety of melodies to please all audiences. Mark your calendars now, you won't want to miss these!

Band Concert - December 4 at 6:30 pm in the Gym

Choir Concert - December 15 at 6:30 pm in the Gym

Orchestra Concert - December 16 at 6:30 pm in the Gym.

CRT Boot Camp

Over the past few years our Math and English teachers have hosted a CRT prep course to help students prepare for the CRT. This special event will be starting soon and is a great benefit to all students as a way to prepare for the CRT's. The classes will be held on Saturdays at Roy Martin Middle School. Stay tuned for more detailed information.
