Bridger Middle School Mathematics and Science themes feature a unique technology-based learning environment. The aerospace and aviation programs introduce students to the basics of aerospace history, aviation concepts, and technology and career opportunities. Activities teach the basic forces of flight, rocketry skills, space exploration and living conditions in space. The newly formed 801 st SEP Squadron of the CAP introduces an after school extension of learning. Military drill, ceremony, customs, courtesy and leadership training along with aerospace education, search and rescue exercises, and moral character building are some of the classes and values taught to cadets. The biomedicine program introduces students to the medical field. Students receive training in the human body, disease, medical terminology and operation and care of medical equipment. Students learn the mathematical skills necessary to perform medical duties, hazards in the medical profession, and basic medical techniques and procedures. In the robotics program students learn how to build, program, operate and use robots in different environments. Robotics provides an introduction to the study of physics and engineering. The technology program focuses on the student learning to use the computer as a problem-solving tool. The students learn about the major components of a computer system, comSeptember 8, 2008raphics. Sixth grade students explore all five themes while seventh grade students focus on a variety of semester theme electives that are extensions of their sixth grade interests. Eighth grade students complete a Capstone project, based on previous research in electives, which involves independent study and a presentation to peers, family, and professionals.
