Selma Bartlett line1

There are those unique individuals in each generation who ascribe to the philosophy that they wish to make life richer and more rewarding for all those they know, such is the legacy and meaning for the life of Selma F. Bartlett.

Selma F. Bartlett has been a resident of Henderson, Nevada, since February 1954. She has been an active supporter of community issues, not the least of which has been her assistance in supporting educational needs, for the past 36 years.

She has been Henderson's "Banker" since 1954 and was one of the first female bank officers in Nevada in 1958. She served as regional Vice-President, National Association of Bank Women from 1958-60, and as an instructor for the American Institute of Banking, Clark County Community College from 1979-82. She has been the recipient of the 1989 National Jewish Humanitarian Award honoree; outstanding member award, Henderson Chamber of Commerce; commendation, City of Henderson.

Dedication CeremonyShe has given unselfishly of her time over the years to many civic and business organizations in southern Nevada. She has participated in numerous advisory boards including: St. Rose Dominican Hospital (12 years); State of Nevada Economic Development Board; Clark County Community College; Henderson Chamber of Commerce; Henderson Boys and Girl's Club; Henderson Development Association; UNLV Economic Advisory Board; Humana Senior Advisory Board; chairman of the Humana Senior Political Action Committee; James I. Gibson Library board trustee; Henderson Downtown Progress Association; and Opportunity Village Building Committee.

Lorna Kesterson, mayor of the city of Henderson, stated "Selma Bartlett has maintained a position of respect in Henderson and has made no secret of her affection and pride in the progress that Henderson has achieved."

Naming this school for Selma F. Bartlett is a fitting testimonial to the love she displays for her community. Yet, far above this service remains an individual who ascribed to the philosophy that life can be richer and more rewarding for all people if we made the same effort as Selma F. Bartlett.
