Criteria Page |
To have your school's library web site listed on the CCSLA's site, your page must meet the following three elements. |
1) The school library must be in the Clark County School District. The school library that the site represents must have a physical library in the Clark County School District.2) The submission must be a school library web page. The submitted URL should be for a library exclusively. The library page should not share information about other school programs such what's happening in the classroom. It should also do more than just describe programs such as Accelerated Reader. While the library page will be "attached" or linked to the main school site, the library page per se should mainly contain information about the library program.3) The site must have some sort of content about the library media program. The page should not entirely consist of a list of links or passwords. For content suggestions, see the below "elements of quality." |
The Elements of a Quality School Library Web Site |
Quality school library pages have at least one of the below content elements. The library page should describe . . .a) What happens in the library? (how do students and teachers use the library?)b) Who runs the library? (who is the librarian? aide?) c) What does the library look like? (graphic depictions of the library) d) What are the library's policies & procedures? e) What are some useful links? (with research in mind) f) Are there any current events? After experiencing the above elements, a visitor who never visited the actual library should leave with a general understanding of the school's library media program. Here are three choice examples: Elementary: Watson, Middle School: Fremont, High School: Sierra Vista |
