Department Overview

Child Find is an evaluative process to address the federal mandate to locate and evaluate children, ages three to 21, who are not enrolled in public school and may be eligible for services identified in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

  • Assesses children for special education eligibility.
  • Develops Individualized Educational Programs for eligible children.
  • Engages in community outreach to identify children who may need services.
  • Provides connections for families to community resources.
  • Collaborates with Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS) to ensure no drop in services.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Child Find Department is to facilitate communication and collaboration with stakeholders to find, locate, and evaluate children ages three to 21 who have a disability and are eligible for services and develop a plan to address the individualized academic, social/behavior, and communication needs of all students.
