A-Tech Performance is A-1 at Science Bowl

While millions of eyes were glued to the Superbowl this weekend, one local team sat at home and savored the sweet taste of victory. Students on the Advanced Technologies Academy science bowl team emerged victorious in the Department of Energy's regional competition this past Saturday in a competition held at the PBS building. The five student Maverick team was one of 32 from Nevada, California and Utah that started the Nevada Regional Science Bowl competition Saturday morning. The teams endured ten hours of tough math and science questions in a double-elimination tournament. A-Tech's team went undefeated in the day-long competition. For their winning efforts, team members Max Howald, Bridget Elizan, Alexander Koo, Adam Tarr, and Mateusz Podzorski won $5000 and an all expense paid trip to Washington DC in April to compete in the National Science Bowl competition. A-Tech teachers Becky Colledge and David Peltz coach and advise the team. The Regional Science Bowl competition will air in March on Vegas PBS.
