CCSD taking part in Nevada Reading Week

Elementary schools in Clark County celebrate Nevada Reading Week February 25 to March 1, 2013 in fun and creative ways aimed at improving students' reading skills. The special guest for CCSD's celebration of Nevada Reading Week will be author Kathleen Krull, who will discuss her book, "The Boy on Fairfield Street: How Ted Geisel Grew Up to Become Dr. Seuss." This book is the selection for this year's Each One Read One program. Krull will visit Vegas PBS on Thursday, Feb. 28 to conduct a live, closed-circuit broadcast to students and teachers throughout the district. At 4:30 p.m., she will be available to meet with members of the public during an appearance at the Enterprise Library, 25 E. Shelbourne, Las Vegas.Many CCSD schools will have Reading Week activities of their own, and special guests will read to classrooms throughout the valley. Trustee Erin Cranor will read to students on Tuesday, Feb. 26 as follows:

  • 10 a.m.: Harley Harmon Elementary School, 5351 S. Hillsboro, Las Vegas, NV 89120
  • Noon: Ruby S. Thomas Elementary School, 1560 E. Cherokee Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89126
  • 1:20 p.m.: Will Beckley Elementary School, 3223 S. Glenhurst, Las Vegas, NV 89121
