Bullying: The Beginning of the Violence Continuum*:
This presentation offers educators an overview of the issues surrounding bullying.  Participants will gain a clear definition of bullying, learn the difference between bullying and normal peer conflict, and identify traits of both a bully and a victim.  Specific prevention and intervention strategies to use with victims, bullies, and bystanders will be explained.

Crossing the Line, Understanding Sexual Harassment in Schools:
Presenters will dispel common myths associated with sexual harassment and raise awareness about the types of sexual harassment that take place among students at school.  Participants will receive an introduction to strategies which prevent sexual harassment.

Crystal Darkness/Meth Education (MS, HS):
Participants will learn the devastating effects of Meth and how to prevent further abuse of this harmful substance.  Those who attend the training will receive informative handbooks for students.

Cyberbullying and Internet Safety*:
Participants will learn how sites such as MySpace.com lend themselves to bullying, bias-motivated acts of violence, and crimes against youth.  The principles of internet safety will be shared. 

Drug Trends, Signs and Symptoms:
Methamphetamine, Black Tar Heroine, laced marijuana, prescription drug abuse, and new alcohol-based additives are becoming trends in the community and among school-aged youth.  Participants will learn the facts behind these and other harmful substances, as well as how to identify signs and symptoms of use.

Gang Awareness:
Educators will learn specific classroom and school-wide strategies that can be used to solve and prevent gang problems. 

Helping Parents Use the Developmental Asset Model with Youth*:
Assets are building blocks that all children need to become healthy, competent, and contributing citizens.  The model of 40 Developmental Assets, developed by the Search Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will be explained.  Parents will receive ideas on how to build assets in children so that they are successful. 

Incorporating Girl Bullying (Relational Aggression) in the School Bullying Prevention Program:
Learn how cultural influences, identity development, socialization, and other factors contribute to girl bullying, also known as relational aggression.  Strategies and activities will be shared on integrating and emphasizing prevention strategies in a school-wide bullying prevention program.

Party Crews and Gangs, Curbing School Violence:
Participants will learn the difference between party crews and gangs and examine the progression of violent activity for each.  Strategies for preventing school violence will be shared, along with ways to turn gang members into allies.

Signs and Symptoms of Substance Abuse Among Youth:
Participants will learn early warning signs that may indicate a student is at risk for using drugs or alcohol. What to do, including tips for educators, parents, and students, will be discussed. 

 Violence Prevention in Schools:
Bullying, hate crimes, and bias-motivated incidents will be identified so that participants may accurately assess the needs of their schools.  CCSD Policies and Regulations regarding a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment will be reviewed as well as strategies for prevention and intervention.
