Secondary School Highlights:
ACCES Software:
All secondary school ECS's received the newest version of Acces software last fall, however new updates continue to be posted on the Educaide website. Once the software has been installed on their computers, teachers can download any additional updates by going to: www.educaide.com/docs. These free updates will continue to be available to all secondary schools in Clark County and include bug-fixers, user-interface enhancements, an updated typesetting engine, and an updated program manual.
Calculator Training:
TI 83/84 Calculator Training for Beginner-Users has 10 trainings available:
Part I (For those who have no experience with graphing calculators):
January 28th and 29th, February 1st, 4th, and 5th
Part II (For those very little experience with graphing calculators):
February 11th, 19th, 22nd, 25th, and 26th
All sessions repeat, so teachers should register for only one session in Part I and one in Part II. All trainings will take place at the Nedra Joyce Building, 4212 Eucalyptus Ave., 2nd Floor, Computer Lab 201. Teachers can register on Pathlore using the keyword math.
T3 Regional Conference:
On February 8th and 9th, 2008, the Southern Nevada Mathematics Council and the Nevada State Science Teacher's Association will be holding their annual T3 Regional Conference. During this two-day conference, teachers attend hands-on as well as demonstation/lecture sessions which offer training in technology, item writing, and instructional strategies. This is an opportunity for teachers to collaborate with other educators and acquire the latest technology techniques. If teachers have not pre-registered, they can register at Spring Valley HS on Friday, February 8th and 9th. Teachers may also sign up at the conference to receive a graduate credit from UNLV -the cost is $45 and requires completion of an assignment.
SOAS Training:
The Summary of Answers and Skills training will be at Del Sol HS on February 21, 2008, in Room 200, beginning at 3:00 pm.
MathCounts Contest:
The annual MathCounts contest will be at the Clark County Government Center, on February 23, 2008. Registration begins at 8:00 am.
AVID Math "Write Path" Training
For current AVID school sites only, this training will be at Del Sol HS on February 29 and March 1, 2008. See Pathlore for more details.
