- Is the school in a rural or urban area?
- Do you plan to live at home or on a college campus?
- Do you like the climate?
Size of enrollment
- Is there a large or small student body?
- Do you prefer a school where all of the students know each other or one where there is anonymity?
- What is the cost per year?
- Is there out-of-state tuition?
Financial aid programs
- Don't eliminate the cost of a school until you have examined available financial aid programs such as grants, loans, scholarships, or work study.
Student population
- Is the student body co-ed, predominantly women or predominantly men?
Affiliation
- Is the school a state or private school?
- If a private school, it is affiliated with a particular religion?

- Are admission standards competitive or liberal?
