Q: Who should I call with questions regarding my license?
A: The Nevada Department of Education is the licensing authority; however the Clark County School District's Licensure Services is able to assist with many of your licensure needs.

Q: Where do I find information on registering for the necessary Praxis exams?

Q: Who should I contact if I am a test taker who requires certain accommodations?
A: Test takers who require certain accommodations should contact the Educational Testing Service at www.ets.org for Praxis exams and the University of Nevada, Reno at
http://www.unr.edu/educ/el/nvlaw/ for testing information on Nevada School Law, Nevada Constitution, and the U.S. Constitution exams.

Q: Does the Clark County School District automatically receive my Praxis exam scores from the Educational Testing Service (ETS)?
A: No. The Nevada Department of Education is a score recipient; however the Clark County School District is not. Please forward copies of all passing exam scores to CCSD Licensure Services through school mail or by faxing them to (702) 799-2816.

Q: How do I become “Highly Qualified” under No Child Left Behind in Nevada?
A: Teachers in core subject areas must hold a clear license, demonstrate competency through testing, or demonstrate competency through the High Objective Uniform State Standard of Evaluation (HOUSSE) option, or through National Board Certification.

Q: I am “Highly Qualified” in another state. Why am I not considered “Highly Qualified” in Nevada?
A: The requirements to become “Highly Qualified” are determined by each individual state. If the Nevada Department of Education has cleared your license of testing provisions based on prior years of experience or previously taken tests, please forward a copy of those documents to the Clark County School District, Licensure Services for review.

Q: Do I have three years to become “Highly Qualified”?
A: No. You must be “Highly Qualified” or complete a Highly Qualified Monitoring Plan that states how you will become “Highly Qualified” upon request of district administrators. Failure to do so may result in sanctions being placed on the Clark County School District, including the possible withholding of federal and state funding.

Q: Where may I obtain a copy of my Nevada teaching license?
A: Visit the Nevada Department of Education’s website at
www.nvteachers.doe.nv.gov and use the “Find a Teacher” option.

Q: When does my Nevada license expire?
A: The expiration date of your Nevada teaching license is located on the front of the license. The expiration dates for provisions are located on the back of the teaching license.

Q: Can I use PDE credits to renew my license?
A: Yes. Clark County School District PDE’s are acceptable to use for licensure renewal.

Q: How do I apply for an extension on my Nevada license?
A: Only the Nevada Department of Education has the authority to consider granting extensions on a Nevada License. In accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes, all licensed employees whose license expires during the school year, will have until the end of the school year or 90 days, whichever is longer, to clear and/or renew their license.
