Alternative Routes to Licensure
The Clark County School District (CCSD) is the fifth largest school district in the country. Due to nationwide teacher shortages, combined with continued growth in student population, CCSD continues to seek alternative ways to recruit, train, hire, and retain quality educators in areas where there are critical teaching shortages. The Alternative Routes to Licensure (ARL) Program offers unique opportunities for individuals with successful employment histories, and Bachelor's degrees in areas other than education, to enter the teaching profession. Applicants who meet minimum admission requirements will be notified of ARL Program Orientation dates, times, and locations as they are scheduled. Candidates who are accepted into an ARL program, participate in a full semester of intense pre-hire professional development and graduate-level education coursework. Upon successful completion of these components, and competency testing requirements, candidates may become eligible for full-time employment as contracted CCSD teachers. Once employed, ARL teachers have three years to meet the remaining Nevada Department of Education requirements for full teacher licensure.
All Interest Forms submitted after March 5, 2010 will be considered for possible Fall 2010 ARL Programs, based on current and projected enrollment and staffing needs.
