Celebrating bilingualism

Hola, bon dia, bonjour, xin-chao, guten tag! That is “Hello” in five different languages.

In the Clark County School District, our students can say “Hello” in 70 different languages. That is how many languages are spoken among our student population.

Thirty percent of our students come from households where a language other than English is spoken, of those 19 percent of our students speak a language other than English as their primary language. Those students are identified as English Language Learners. Our ELL students need...
